On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, the South Harrison Community School Corp. School Board of Trustees convened at Corydon Elementary for its monthly meeting to discuss educational issues and act on items requiring Board approval. Below are the highlights of the meeting.

Special Presentations

  • Corydon Elementary School academic presentation - During their presentation, Mrs. Ellett showed the Board how CES is working to improve reading comprehension and writing skills among students using the Science of Reading techniques, literacy groups, writing extensions and RTI benchmarks. Examples of activities they showed were daily vowel and consonant work, blended letter tasks, choral reading to build confidence, encoding action and more.
  • Corydon Central High School Student Council - This month the CCHS Student Council highlighted community events the student body hosted in October and athletic and band achievements. October was a busy month but a great one for CCHS Panthers.

  • George Link, VPS Architecture - Facility review update, project plans and construction timeline.

  • Framing and finishing project at South Harrison Park - While Mr. Ledford was not able to share this project with the Board in person, he did share a presentation for the Board to learn what students accomplished and their work within the Construction Pathway program.
