The South Harrison Community School Corporation Board of Trustees held its first meeting of the 2025-2026 school year on Tuesday, covering student and staff presentations, the 2026 budget hearing, and agenda items requiring board approval.
Student and Staff Presentations
Corydon Intermediate Staff Presentation
Corydon Intermediate Principal Wendy Carter, presented to the Board ILEARN performance data from the previous school year, outlined goals to increase student proficiency, and a video introducing staff and highlighting the latest construction updates. She outlined plans to further increase language arts and math proficiency by 10% over the next two years, with a focus on improving academic achievement among special education students. She emphasized the importance of closing achievement gaps and increasing pass rates for all learners.
Principal Carter also presented her plan to strengthen Professional Learning Community teams by integrating special education staff into the PLC process. She highlighted recent staff efforts to accomplish this, including participation in a book study focused on utilizing special education resources with intention and efficiency. Principal Carter also highlighted a staff member who attended a PLC conference and announced plans for another book study using educational content gathered at the conference.
To conclude the presentation, Board members enjoyed a video of CIS staff introducing themselves, students sharing their positive experiences with teachers and school programs, as well as a tour of the newly renovated areas.
South Central Jr-Sr High School Student Presentation
The South Central Jr-Sr High School student council presented an update on upcoming events, athletic achievements, and highlighted new staff members.
Corydon Central High School Student Presentation
The Corydon Central High School student council presented an update on recent sporting events, academic achievements, and announced several upcoming events. Additionally, CCR seniors signed up for the Governor’s Work Ethic Pride Certificate, and seniors in the Advanced Speech and Communications dual credit course represented CCHS at the first Rotary meeting of the school year.
Agenda Highlights
Corporation Treasurer and Director of Business Operations, Carolyn Wallace, reviewed the proposed 2026 budgets for education, operations, and debt service funds, along with the 2026-2028 capital projects plan, as well as the 2026-2030 bus replacement plan. Board members will be asked to adopt these budgets and plans on October 2nd, 2025.

The Board also approved several school field trips, fundraisers, and reviewed various operational matters. SHCSC looks forward to watching students achieve academic success and reach their full potential as the school year progresses. With our hardworking staff, upgraded campuses, expanding academic programs, and the support of our families, we look forward to all that this school year will bring.
