At September's board meeting, a revision to the 2023-2024 academic calendar was accepted and the proposed 2024-2025 academic calendar was approved.
Dr. Eastridge presented the calendar changes and new school schedule to the Board explaining, "These adjustments will provide more time for the anticipated construction projects within our school buildings this summer." Dr. Eastridge said moving this year's graduation date up to May 26 allows construction crews to start earlier and pushing back the first day of school gives the architects as much time as possible to complete projects without kids and staff in the buildings.
The only revision to the 2023-2024 calendar is the graduation date, which is now on May 26. South Central Jr./Sr. High School's ceremony will begin at 1:30 PM and Corydon Central High School's program will follow at 4 PM.
Compared to previous years, there are several changes to the 2024-2025 school calendar including:
- The first day of school is Aug. 14;
- Fall break is Oct. 7-11;
- Spring break is March 24-28; and
- One scheduled in-person make-up date is April 18.
South Harrison Community School Corp. intends to utilize eLearning days as much as possible for school closures caused by inclement weather, reserving the one in-school make-up day for extenuating circumstances.
