Message from the Superintendent

It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the Superintendent of South Harrison

Community School Corporation. I am truly excited to serve this outstanding community

and work alongside our students, families, staff, Board of School Trustees, and

community partners to build upon the strong tradition of excellence that already exists.

I have proudly called this community home since 1998, and therefore know that South

Harrison is a great place to live and raise a family. Over the years, I have had the

opportunity to experience firsthand what makes our district so special—putting students

first, the dedication of our educators, the support of our families, the generosity of our

community, and the pride we all share in our schools.

South Harrison is the largest school district in Harrison County, serving approximately

3,000 students at eight school buildings, including:

● Corydon Elementary School

● Corydon Intermediate School

● Corydon Central Junior High School

● Corydon Central High School

● Heth-Washington Elementary School

● New Middletown Elementary School

● South Central Elementary School

● South Central Jr-Sr High School

Our schools offer students countless opportunities to discover their passions and

prepare for their futures. Whether through challenging academic coursework, Advanced

Placement and dual-credit classes, Career and Technical Education pathways, STEM

learning experiences, fine arts, athletics, agricultural education, performing arts, student

leadership organizations, or a wide variety of extracurricular activities, every student has

the opportunity to learn, grow, and excel.

We are also committed to providing safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments where every child feels respected, supported, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. Strong relationships are at the heart of successful schools, and we recognize that students achieve the greatest success when schools and families work together as partners.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to make this an exceptional year for our students and families.

Thank you,
Mr. Nathan Freed
